PRESTON HOLLOW DALLAS TX
Preston Hollow is a neighborhood in north Dallas. It is bordered on the south by the city of University Park, and extends north toward Royal Lane. Generally speaking the Preston Hollow area falls between the Midway Road and Hillcrest Road, and the Dallas North Tollway runs directly through the Preston Hollow area giving residents easy access to the entire Metroplex, with a commute to Downtown Dallas at 15-minutes. Homes in the Preston Hollow area are generally known for being larger estate-style homes on large lots. While lot sizes start just under .25-acre, many homes are situated on nearer to half-acre lots, and several areas include homes nestled on heavily-treed lots of more than one-acre. With original development of the area beginning in the 1930’s, some homes have been updated over the years, while others have been re-developed in more recent years, allowing for homes of many ages and styles. Renowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, built his only residential project in Dallas in the Preston Hollow area in the 1950’s. The median sales price of homes in the Preston Hollow area is just over $1.1-million (as of September 2016).
The Preston Hollow area includes easy access to many prestigious private schools including: The Episcopal School of Dallas, The Hockaday School, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, Saint Marks School of Texas, Saint Monica Catholic School, Ursuline Academy of Texas, and the Winston School.
Upscale shopping and dining are found nearby including Preston Center, Northpark Mall, and the Inwood Village.
Interesting history:
The Preston Hollow began development in the 1930’s and was actually incorporated as a municipality in 1939. However in 1945, Preston Hollow residents voted to join the city of Dallas while the University Park and Highland Park (collectively the Park Cities) voted to remain independent municipalities.
